The EASIEST way to import MIDI to MPC? (Software & Standalone)
Importing MIDI files into a MPC project is quite a pain because it forces you to create multiple sequences. It does not function intuitively, but in this video I show you how to do it reasonably easily without any prepping or file conversion beforehand (which seems to be the most common workaround).
This method will work on any modern MPC (One / One+ / Live 2 / X / X SE) and while not perfect, it's well worth trying out. I cover the technique in both standalone and in controller/software mode.
Thanks for watching! If you have any questions or some tips of your own, please drop them in the comments.

Sonicware Lofi-12 XT - Unboxing
Переглядів 7643 місяці тому
In this video I unbox the new Sonicware Lofi-12 XT sampler / groovebox. This is the default black version. There is also a beige retro edition that is more expensive, but has the exact same functionality. I've been waiting for it for months and I'm very excited to get into it... NOTE: I got the case for free as a perk because I backed the project on Kickstarter. If you buy this device today, it...
Can You Make Hip-Hop on the Tracker Mini?
Переглядів 2,9 тис.6 місяців тому
This is the first of a series of videos that I'll be doing this year, making beats from scratch using different samplers while exploring different genres. In this video I use the Polyend Tracker Mini to make some Bossa Nova jazz influenced hip-hop. I tried to strike a balance between entertaining and educating. I talk through what I do and what I'm thinking but I also sped up a lot of the proce...
32 Tips for Getting Comfortable with the Tracker Mini

In this Polyend Tracker Mini video, I go over most of the things you need to know to get comfortable and productive with your new machine, right out of the box. Most things on the Tracker Mini are intuitive and well laid out, but some things aren't, which I hope to address here… Overall, it's an insanely fun machine that looks much "scarier" than it is. In fact, I found this device to be easier...

BEEF UP your drum breaks with MPC’s DRUM SYNTHS!
Переглядів 3,2 тис.11 місяців тому
In this video I use the MPC's Drum Synths to beef up a sampled drum break / loop. The MPC is very accommodating when it comes to layering via one-shots, but there are downsides: It's easy to overdo, you can cause phasing and it's time consuming. Instead of auditioning or trying to find the perfect samples to layer your drums with, how about we just skip all that and make our own layer that does...

Chop your samples like THIS!
Переглядів 2,4 тис.Рік тому
In this video I share a step-by-step guide to my favourite experimental sample chopping technique. Although I'm using my MPC One in the video, the method is brand/sampler agnostic. The MPC does have a bit of a leg up (auto key detection) but I include some workarounds if you are using a different sampler (hardware or software, it doesn't matter). Although not rocket science, this is a video aim...

The Ultimate Guide to Mastering the MPC's Flavor Pro Plugin

In this MPC (One / One / Live 2 / X / X SE) effect walkthrough video, I go deep with the Flavor Pro plugin (which is also usable in any DAW as a VST)! It can be seen as a video manual of sorts. This lofi tone altering texture plugin is mostly intuitive and easy to use but there are various parameters that are trickier to understand and use. I feel like this effect is underrated and I'm hoping t...

Just got mine. Can't play with it until I've finished this job. So gonna watch a bunch of videos while I work.
More tracker mini video's! I fall in love with your tutorials. I shouuld say that this device is so intuitive❤❤❤
Many thanks. But how can I start to make music? Is it unit including samples? And how can I download any sumples on project?
Yes, it comes with a whole bunch of samples you can use. They will already be on the included SD card and you can copy more of your own on there as well.
The first five minutes were all a person needs. It seems very intuitive to me. And apparently you’re the first person who has figured out how to show others just how intuitive it really is. Great Work!
Glad it was helpful! Thank you!
Yoooo Sounds nice man That vocals Great stuff
Thank you! 🙌🏼
So cool!
Don’t waste your money
It's 2024 and you can't drag and drop a MIDI file 🙈
rockstar bruh!
Thanks for this, more please! this was good!
More coming! Glad you enjoyed!
@@WatermarkHigh Yes, and what I really liked about your session is how you used a drumbreak without making a Drum'N'Bass song as we normally see , when Poster want to show drumbreaks in conjunction with the Tracker.
Wow, thanks!! SUB
Thanks for the sub!
One of the best tutorials for new MPC users! Thank you so much.
You're welcome! Glad it was helpful 🙌🏼
I don't remember when I liked this song but found it between my liked videos and damn. Thanx past me this slaps
Haha! Awesome 🙌🏼
Amazing!
Thank you!
what you did is how most people do it.
Seriously, just got my Mini, and as comfortable as I am with it, this was the first tutorial that had all the most relevant info and presented in an engaging way. Thank you!!
Definitely takes too long. MIDI on track would be great. Let’s go Akai
🤞🏼
Thanks for this exellent review / tutorial ...very professional ,and a joy to watch ! Akai should pay you to do more of this content / tutorials / demonstrations 😀
Glad you enjoyed it and found it useful!
Got mine two days ago and love it. I love the portability and take it with me everyday. It very powerful and sounds great. The only thing I don’t like is this thing with fingerprints 😂
Nice! I love mine too. I just see my fingerprints as giving the little guy some “character” 😉 I’ve put it to work! Haha
Mine’s on its way and this track set me at ease that I can make top jams. Do you know what sample packs you used? They all sounded great!
Awesome! Um, I can’t remember off the top of my head. Pretty sure it was a combination of some of my own stuff, Splice and some free Slate samples…I think. Haha. Hope you’re enjoying yours? It’s such a fun workflow…
What a great video, thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
great vid, thanks! would love to see new tips for the 2.0 update
Thanks dude! 🙌🏼 Not sure when but there will definitely be more Tracker stuff coming in the future! Thanks for watching!
This video is awesome! Thank you
Glad you liked it! 🙌🏼
Great Video! Thank you very much!
Glad you found it useful! Thanks for watching!
Thanks Akai needs to work on this an midi in standalone too instead of havin to use the vst all the time
I’d love to learn this from a person I’ve read the manual and still just need to use it more I guess. Get familiar with it with fl studio.
Nice, thanks 👍
No problem 👍
Cool video and info on drumsynth, definitely an under utilized plug-in.
Definitely! Glad you enjoyed!
Finaly somebody addresses crashing issues. most videos act as if the machine doesn't have this issue.
Total mpc nub actually a bit afraid of it. Sold my other groove boxes so it’s going to be my mum track making device from now on
You’ll get it, just keep making stuff. Once you’ve got your head wrapped around the basics, it’ll get easier! Enjoy! 🙌🏼
Actually if you chop a sample and convert to program, the whole program is mono by default
I believe this was a recent change. It didn’t always default to mono.
@@WatermarkHigh interesting. I wonder how recent the change was. I for whatever reason remember it doing the same thing on my Touch and I barely updated it. I could be wrong. Either way, my bad
This is really straightforward on my MPC4000 as a new user of the SE and One Plus sad to hear this. Great tutorials BTW
Thank you! Oh really? I had no idea. That is wild! That the old machines got it right but that they made such weird decisions with the new ones. Yeah, it's been like this for a while, so I'm assuming this is the way they want it which is so strange to me but anyway...enjoy the new machines 🙌
Bro, you open my eyes to a lot of stuff. 😮Thank You
Stoked to hear that, glad it was helpful! 🙌🏼
Purge is an awsome feature. But, it doesn't delete the actual audio files in the current project. You should save the project with a new name right after using purge. He mentions having iterative backups. This is definately one of those times.. .. I tend to save over old work more often than I make backups.. .. it's quick and easy and doesn't bloat my disk.. .. but, once you've decided that you don't need those other 56 alternate kicks and whatnot, purge and save anew.. .. maximize you storage and memory within the limited device while you work.. backups are boring.. ;).. jk.. .. 99 sequences with 128 tracks, each with their own 4 effects, each containing 128 samples, each with their own 4 effects.. No song needs to be that complicated.. Let's assume we only have 120 tracks because the other 8 are consumed by synths.. Resample!.. it's funny that resample is even a pro tip but, dude!.. it's a sampler.. .. an absolutely overpowered sampler that 'could' be used like a daw in a box.. 8 audio tracks and 8 'instrument' tracks and a drum track and a percussion track and your pretty well off.. Oops!.. forgot this thing is a sampler.. all playing sic synths and recording audio tracks.. .. yeah, I guess I could resample my own work.. I remember in the 90's when the thought of internal sampling was a new feature!.. I used to record out from the mpc2000 into a cassete, reel, or ADAT and then input that back into the mpc.. lol.. And if I had ANY kind of synth at hand, I was damn sure gonna sample it.. with a field recorder, mpc, whatever,. .. it's confusing to have sound generators and linear tracks along side a legacy system that's really just a bunch of groups of samples.. I.e. a drum program.. .. for those of you who can't afford to go back in time or buy one.. maybe look at some mpc2000 tutorials if they exist.. .. or.. make a song that uses just one drum program on the mpc one.. use it like a sampler first.. .. I'm done ranting for now.. want me to go on?.. like this comment.. and ya boy's video too..
Thanks I needed that 👊🏾
Happy to help! 👊🏼
Its really fucked up we begin from the dictionary for example chops are damn slices .. hell what.
Thank you! exactly what I was looking for
Glad I could help!
Thanks, I went through this same process last night.
🙌🏼
It's because you are in Trim-Mode when you change to Chop-Mode you can change the Chops
Wonderful great info , highly appreciate it. Useful utility tips compared to nonsense and Skipped the bulls*** . Subscribed!
Happy to hear that, glad you found it useful and not a pain to watch, haha.
Could be the best sampler in the world if they would have better devs.
Thank you, didn't know the slide menu feature!
Happy to help!
Very good tips. It helps a lot ! Thanks
Glad it was helpful!
It would be so much nicer to be able to import a MIDI file directly into the current track. But that wouldn't be user-hostile enough for Akai. Their designers are on their own strange planet.
Yeah, that would have been the intuitive or logical way to go about it. Strange choice indeed. Haha.
Absolutely, I can't believe they have ever used it for music making.
Thanks it helps me a lot
Glad to hear that 🙌🏼
Looks a bit flimsy IMO. The build quality of the similar format and priced SP 404 MK2 looks more solid in that regard.
The pots.......maybe...but that's what decksavers are for. Other than that this thing is a little tank😊
@@ILLUDIUM_Q_36 They're both designed for on the go though, not exactly deck saver territory. But if you use them mainly in the studio where form factor and portability are less of an issue, I can imagine these tiny controls with this micro screen can start to annoy sooner or later.
@@Drrolfski I keep a decksaver on all of my portable gear. They stay on with 2 or 3 rubber bands or 👖 leg velcro straps (for bike riding) and into the backpack 🎒 with the headphones they go.
@@ILLUDIUM_Q_36 I would rather use a dedicated travel soft case or hard case then. Anyway, little tank or not, it still doesn't look all that confident and inviting to play with. So it better have a superior and more intuitive workflow compared to the SP 404 MK2 then (which tbh isn't all that hard) otherwise I see little reason why you would want that device at that price point.
It looks more flimsy than it is I'd say. Especially the bottom pads. They feel great, much sturdier than it looks. All the buttons feel good, the pots are a bit small but feels fine 🤷🏼♂ The screen looks shit on almost all videos I've seen of it (including mine), but it's quite nice irl - It's "retro" but it's crisp and bright which kinda caught me off guard, haha. I'm not into this side of things so much though (unless it's something egregious, which I did not find to be the case here) so I'd suggest you try it out for yourself to get a feel for it? I messed around with it properly for the first time yesterday afternoon and I love it so far...will see how it holds up when I attempt to properly make something with it.
I’ve got the mini and it’s definitely a finger print magnet. I wish they would have use a different material. It,s a cool unit though.
I’ve never even noticed that but you’re not the first person to bring it up. I dunno, as long as it doesn’t get sticky, which it doesn’t (I’ve had mine for about 8 months with some heavy usage and travel) so I’m happy about that. I just love this thing 🤷🏻♂️
Ugh, same it’s almost my only complaint. Looking for a good way to regularly clean it.
WatermarkHigh! You have excellent content! Thx for the info, brother.
My pleasure! Thanks for watching…
